Cost of living: Glasgow City Council urges families to apply for 拢49 fuel top-up payment

Families across Glasgow are being urged to apply for a 拢49 fuel top-up payment.
The one-off grant - which aims to ease the burden of high energy costs - is available to parents and carers in Glasgow with children at home and who receive council tax reductions.
Those who meet the criteria will either receive the cash direct into their bank accounts or via a top-up voucher.
The funding also comes with the offer of independent advice on energy-related issues.
Glasgow City Council announced the £1m Fuel Support Project last October to help families most in need during the cost of living crisis.
Councillor Ricky Bell, Glasgow's city treasurer, said: "We are in the middle of a cost of living crisis, and we will do all that we can to support those hardest hit by rising energy costs in these challenging times.
"Fuel bills are set to rise again in the next couple of months.
"We know that this is not an entire solution for households, but it will provide a top-up or allow families to use the saving on other household bills at a time when we need it the most."
Councillor Bell said there had been a steady rise in applications since the fund's launch, but is appealing to all those eligible who have not yet applied to do so now.
He added: "To make it as simple as possible we have developed an online form to fill in - and if you need internet access you can visit your local library to fill the form out."
