French President Emmanuel Macron has a cough and is tired, following his positive coronavirus test.
It was announced on Thursday that Mr , 42, tested positive for COVID-19 and was self-isolating after developing symptoms on Wednesday evening.
His wife Brigitte, 67, is also self-isolating but tested negative.
A statement from the president's office said: "This diagnosis was made following a PCR test performed at the onset of the first symptoms."
Mr Macron's positive result came following his attendance at an EU 27 summit last week in Brussels with most of the bloc's leaders.
A French official said that due to the timing of the president's symptoms, it is likely he caught the virus on the trip.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel tested negative for the coronavirus following the summit, her government said.
Mr Macron had lunch with European Council President Charles Michel, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development chief Angel Gurria on Monday.
He also held talks with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa on Wednesday.
Mr Sanchez tested negative for the coronavirus but has suspended his public engagements until Christmas Eve.
Irish Taoiseach Michael Martin also tested negative for the virus after coming into contact with Mr Macron at the Brussels meeting.
Mr Costa is isolating and waiting for the results from his test.
While Mr Macron had adopted socially distanced greetings earlier in the pandemic, he was seen on Monday shaking hands with Mr Gurria, a move branded an "unfortunate" mistake by the Elysee.
Mr Macron has received well wishes from Boris Johnson and Donald Trump - both of whom had the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Jean Castex will self-isolate, as will political party chiefs from the lower house after they had lunch with Mr Macron earlier this week.
