The latest stage is focusing on the implementation of the vaccine rollout programme as well as preparedness for the next pandemic.

Former health secretary Matt Hancock faced the inquiry for a second time after making an appearance in November where he spoke about the government's handling of the outbreak.

He insisted ministers did everything it could but apologised to the families of those who died.
