Ealing: Body found on fire in west London park

The Metropolitan Police says it responded to the report at just after 4.30am this morning, and is treating the death as "suspicious".

A body has been found on fire in a west London park, police have said.

Officers were called to Belvue Park, Northolt, just after 4.30am this morning following calls from the public.

An investigation is now underway and work is taking place to identify the person involved, who is believed to be male.

At this stage, Metropolitan Police is treating the death as "suspicious", with a post-mortem examination due to take place in the coming days.

As part of the force's inquiries, officers are carrying out house-to-house calls and are reviewing CCTV in the area.

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, responsible for local policing in Ealing, said: "Like many people across Ealing I am shocked and saddened by this dreadful news and I recognise it will cause considerable concern in the community.

"I can assure you that we are doing all we can to work out what happened."

He added that there is no information to suggest there is a wider risk to the public.

A cordon remains in place at the scene and an increased number of police officers will be patrolling the area over the next few days.
