Foo Fighters cancel all upcoming tour dates after death of drummer Taylor Hawkins

The band invited their supporters to use the time "to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close" after the sudden death of Hawkins in a hotel room over the weekend.

Foo Fighters have cancelled all of their upcoming tour dates after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

In a message to fans on social media, the band said: "We're sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won't be seeing one another as planned."

The band invited their supporters to use the time "to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close".

Hawkins, 50, had been with the rest of the band in the Colombian capital, Bogota, when he died in a hotel room over the weekend.

They had been due to perform at the Estereo Picnic festival on the night of his death.

In a statement on their website on Tuesday the band said: "It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins.

"We're sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won't be seeing one another as planned.

"Instead, let's take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we've made together."

Hawkins' death prompted an outpouring of grief with Liam Gallagher, Travis Barker, Slash and Ozzy Osbourne among the musicians paying tribute.

The band's fans took to social media to share videos and gig memories after the announcement.

Colombian officials have confirmed that the drummer had ten different substances in his system when he died, including marijuana, opioids and antidepressants.

Preliminary results of the urine toxicology test found he had ingested THX (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids, the attorney-general's office said.

The cause of death is still under investigation.
