Footage showing worshippers at a London mosque detaining a hammer-wielding man after he tried to attack people celebrating Ramadan has been obtained by Sky News.
Police were called to reports of an attacker armed with a hammer at the Darussalam Cultural Centre in Hayes Road, Southall, west London, shortly after 4.30am.
No injuries were reported and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "It is believed the man may have been involved in a dispute with people who he believed to have been attendees from the mosque the previous day."
The spokesperson added: "He was detained by worshippers prior to police arrival.
"He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and is in custody at a west London police station."
This latest incident follows a series of attacks on mosques in Birmingham in March.
Five mosques had their windows smashed in one night, and CCTV footage obtained by Sky News showed a person slinging a sledgehammer through several windows at the Witton Islamic Centre.
