Glasgow west end street locked down and bomb squad called over 'suspected ordnance'

A Glasgow street has been locked down and a bomb squad called after "suspected ordnance" was discovered in a garden.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Banavie Road shortly after midday today.
A cordon is in place around the west end street and residents in surrounding properties have been evacuated as a precaution until the item is safely deposed of.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05pm on Tuesday 12 September 2023, police were called to a property in Banavie Road, Glasgow, following the discovery of suspected ordnance in a back garden.

"The EOD are on their way and a cordon is in place.
