A gull has had a lucky escape after it was rescued from a castle well using a "giant spoon".
The fledgling could be seen from the top of the well at Conwy Castle in North Wales.
The RSPCA were contacted as it was unable to fly and leave the 50ft-deep well due to the water.
Rescuers hoped to lure the gull into a bucket attached to a rope by putting some cat food inside.
This did not succeed and the rescue continued into a second day.
Jenny Anderton, one of the rescuers, said they made a "giant spoon".
"We tried a few things with our nets and poles but they unfortunately failed," she said.
"We made a sort of giant spoon with a net with two ropes tied on either end.
"The gull was released within a view of the castle and flew off straight away.
"It had been unable to take off when in the well due to the water."

The rescue was "somewhat tricky and long-winded", according to Ms Anderton.
After the rescue, the RSPCA issued advice to castle staff with a suggestion the well is covered in future in case any gulls get stuck again.
