James Corden says Westminster attack 'will not divide' London as other stars share tributes

David Beckham and Cara Delevingne are also among the stars sharing messages of support following the Westminster terror attack.

James Corden has paid tribute to his "vibrant, diverse and proud" home city of London following the Westminster attack, saying terror will not divide the capital.

The actor and talk show presenter was among many of the city's biggest stars paying tribute to the victims of the tragedy and praising those who helped at the scene.

Corden, who is currently hosting the Late Late Show in Los Angeles, opened Wednesday's live episode saying he believes Londoners will join together "more than ever" in the wake of the attack.

"I know a lot of people in England watch this show, there's a lot of people from Britain who work on this show and of course our thoughts go out to everyone who's been affected by this," he said.

"London is a vibrant and diverse and proud city. That's my experience of it.

"I don't know what the motives were for something like today. But I do know that if those motives were in any way to try and divide people, in that city or that country, it won't happen."

Other British celebrities shared the hashtag PrayForLondon on social media, praising the "bravery" and "humanity" shown in the aftermath of the attack.

"Bravery and simple humanity have shown Westminster at its best," wrote Harry Potter author J K Rowling.

Footballer David Beckham said: "My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones and were injured in London. Prouder than ever of our great city and the people that protect us."

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and supermodels including Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn shared pictures of the city, praying for their "hometown".

"My heart is with London. So saddened by what happened today. Sending lots of love and light, always and forever. We are not afraid," wrote actress Lily Collins.

Superman actor Henry Cavill, who lives in London but is currently shooting a movie in Los Angeles, shared a video on Instagram asking Britain to "stay brave".

"I just heard the new about today's terror attacks in London, and I wanted to pass on my thoughts and condolences to the victims and the victims' families," Cavill said.

"I also want to remind everyone that terror is a weapon that is only effective if we allow it to be."

Messages of hope also came from across the Atlantic, with US actors and musicians sending their "hearts and thoughts to Westminster".

Pop singer Katy Perry sent her "American love to Britain", while talk show host Ellen DeGeneres wrote: "Sending love to everyone in London."

"May God protect everyone in London," wrote singer Nicki Minaj.

US President Donald Trump also shared a message of support on Twitter, informing he had spoken with "UK Prime Minister Theresa May today to offer condolences on the terrorist attacks in London".
