A man who was fatally stabbed in Liverpool has been named by police.

Paul Morgan, 39, died in hospital after he was found with a chest wound in Prince William Street in Toxteth, at 4.30pm on Saturday, Merseyside Police said.

A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder is still in custody.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course, police said.

Officers believe the attack was targeted.

Detective Superintendent Dave McCaughrean said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in Prince William Street or the surrounding area, and witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious behaviour to please get in touch.

"A man has tragically lost his life and at this stage, we are treating the incident as targeted, however an investigation is now under way to establish the full circumstances."
