A man has died after a car being pursued by police crashed into his vehicle on the M6.
Staffordshire Police said the victim was in a stationary traffic management vehicle when a car smashed into it on the northbound side, between junctions 14 at Stafford and 15 for Stoke-on-Trent around 5am.
Officers had been trying to stop the Audi, the force added.
The M6 was closed for several hours following the collision.
Man arrested
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody.

National Highways said there were delays of at least 60 minutes in the area.
It later tweeted to say the M6 northbound between J14 and J15 had been reopened, though there were still delays.
The man who died was in his 40s and was the only person in the vehicle.
Crash referred to IOPC
Detectives said they believe the Audi was previously involved in an incident elsewhere in the West Midlands.
The crash has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the police activity before the collision.
