Man dies after incident involving 'out of control' dog in Derby

A man has died after an incident in Derby involving an "out of control" dog that was shot dead by police.

The man, aged in his 50s, was found seriously injured at a house in Cameron Road on Saturday morning, and police now say he died at the scene.

The animal, said to be "presenting a risk to officers", was killed by armed police who attended.

Derbyshire Police said a 53-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident remains in custody.

He was detained on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs' Act.

A cordon also remains in place, and there will be an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue.
