A man has been extradited from Albania and charged with the murder of a builder on a roof in central London.

Elton Sefa, an Albanian national, is accused of killing 47-year-old John Woodward.

Mr Woodward died while carrying out work on the roof of a commercial building in Hatton Garden on 17 April 2018.

While initial reports indicated that the victim may have fallen from a height, a post-mortem gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, the Metropolitan Police said.

Sefa was arrested by Albanian authorities in February last year in the city of Durres following an international extradition request.

The 23-year-old was kept in custody in Albania until extradition proceedings were complete.

He was returned to the UK on Tuesday and was charged with murder, and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later.

Mr Woodward's family has been informed of the latest developments, police said.
