Missing hillwalker Patrick Alan Monroe reached top of three mountains before vanishing, police reveal

A missing hillwalker in Scotland reached three mountain summits before vanishing almost a week ago, police have revealed.

Patrick Alan Monroe, 33, set off from Tyndrum Holiday Park - formerly Pine Trees Caravan Park - in Stirling on the morning of Thursday 6 April.

Police Scotland enquiries so far have established that Mr Monroe, who speaks with an American accent, reached the summit of Ben Oss at around 1.15pm.

He then went on to conquer Ben Lui at around 3pm, before walking along the ridge to Beinn a' Chleibh an hour later.

Investigating officers said it was not yet known what route Mr Monroe took after this.

He may have retraced his steps along the ridge back to Ben Lui or he could have taken a different route to the A85 and on towards Tyndrum.

Inspector David Ryan said: "Our efforts to trace Patrick are continuing and we know he reached three summits on the day he was last seen.

"He was dressed for the outdoors but we are becoming increasingly concerned and need to trace him to establish he is safe and well."

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who spotted Mr Monroe after his trek to Beinn a' Chleibh.

Inspector Ryan added: "He may have spoken to someone and indicated what route he was planning to take back to Tyndrum.

"I am also asking anyone out and about to keep an eye out and report any sighting to us. If you live in the area, please also check out buildings in case he has sought shelter."

Mr Monroe is described as slim with an athletic build. He's around 6ft tall and has shoulder-length ginger hair and a beard.

When last seen he was wearing a blue T-shirt, a dark green jacket, a baseball cap, and walking trousers and boots. He may also have been carrying a rucksack.
