Peru: Tourists face deportation over Machu Picchu damage and defecation

One tourist is facing charges and another five could be deported after being accused of vandalising Peru's sacred Machu Picchu ruins.
The four men and two women - from Chile, Brazil, France and Argentina - are alleged to have damaged stonework and defecated among the tourist attraction.
They were reportedly discovered in a restricted part of the site, where part of a stone wall was found broken and officials also found faeces.
Police said an Argentine man will remain in the country to face charges over "destroying Peru's cultural heritage".
Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage site set high in the Andes Mountains.
The mysterious Incan citadel, which was built in the 1400s, comprises three primary structures: Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows.
The site is visited by more than one million people a year, which has raised concerns about damage to its centuries-old stonework.
