Police hunt man after suspected kidnap attempt on 16-year-old girl in southeast London

Police are investigating a suspected kidnap attempt on a 16-year-old girl in southeast London.

The Metropolitan Police released an image of a man they want to speak to following the incident on Upton Road in Bexleyheath.

The girl was approached from behind without warning by a man unknown to her, who then grabbed her.

The victim screamed and the suspect made off on foot towards the Broadway, Bexleyheath.

The incident happened between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on Friday 25 June.

Officers say the suspect is white and he was wearing a beige jumper, black trousers and a face mask which was pulled down to his chin.

Detective Constable Tristan Hunter said: "Though the victim was not physically injured, she was left incredibly shaken by this frightening incident.

"I urge anyone who may recognise this man to contact us immediately."
