Two people are being hunted by police after an officer was dragged 40ft (12 metres) by a speeding car.
The unnamed officer had become suspicious of a car in Southgate, north London, when he approached it on Wednesday morning.
The suspects allegedly drove at the officer, dragging him along by the vehicle, the Metropolitan Police said.
He was finally able to roll free, but the soles of his shoes were torn off in the struggle.
The officer suffered minor bruises and grazes and was treated at a police station.
He has remained on duty.
Police are now trying to trace the two occupants of the car on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.
