Never seen before portraits and photographs have gone on display at Buckingham Palace to mark Prince Charles's 70th birthday year.

The Prince of Wales was asked to curate the special exhibition at Buckingham Palace as part of the annual summer opening.
The exhibition is a tribute to his lifelong love of art which he developed in childhood when he was brought up in Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and other royal homes, surrounded by the thousands of masterpieces owned by the Royal Collection.
The Prince has chosen 25 of his favourite art works, many normally kept in his own homes, with another 75 chosen by the arts charities he supports.
The most personal aspect of the display includes portraits of the Royal Family. Among them are paintings of the Queen, the Queen Mother, a drawing of the Duke of Edinburgh and two paintings of Prince Harry and Prince William that normally hang inside Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home.
Dotted around the exhibition space you will also find personal photographs of Prince Charles holding Prince George, the Prince and Prince Harry dressed in flight suits beside a helicopter, a photo of Harry and Meghan on their wedding day and a windswept photograph of the Duchess of Cornwall. All adding a very personal touch to the display.
Exhibition Curator Vanessa Remington from the Royal Collection said: "It's not intended to be a museum display, there aren't any labels on the walls.
"It's very rich, it's very dense, there are many objects on the surfaces, so it's intended to capture the way the Prince of Wales displays art in his own residences and to convey some of the flavour of that to the public."
Talking about the Princes' support for up and coming artists she said: "I think when works by old masters, works by famous names of the past are put on display alongside very talented young artists working today who have been supported by these arts charities, it shows the importance of developing young artists who are the old masters of the future."
Every year up to half a million people visit Buckingham Palace during the summer opening of the state rooms.
The Prince & Patron exhibition and the state rooms will be open from 21 July to 30 September 2018.
