Bury FC have been expelled from the English Football League after more than 120 years, following financial problems and failed takeovers.

But behind the collapse is a team with a proud footballing history, including two FA Cup titles, and a record for goals scored in four divisions of the EFL.

Here's Bury's history in numbers:

Two: The number of FA Cup wins, in 1900 and in 1903. In 1900 they beat Southampton 4-0 and in 1903, they beat Derby 6-0. They didn't concede any goals during the whole tournament.

125: Number of years in the Football League, having been elected in 1894. They previously played in the Lancashire League, where they won two titles. They were formed as a merger of Bury Wesleyans and Bury Unitarians, two church teams, in 1885.

'Bury shows English football is broken'

134: Number of years they have been at Gigg Lane, having secured the land in 1885. The ground is one of the oldest in the world.

1,000: The record. The Shakers are the only club to have reached four figures for the number of goals scored in each of the four divisions in the Football League. They claimed the record in 2005.

8-0: The club's record win against Tranmere in Division Three in 1970. It matches their record league losses, to Sheffield United in 1896 and to Swindon in 1979. In 1983 they lost a League Cup tie to West Ham 10-0.

85: Bury's highest points total in a season, in League Two in 2014-15. However, the 68 they finished the 1960-61 season with in Division Three would equate to 98 under the modern system which gives three points for a win.

Embattled Bury chairman: 'I saved that club'

108: The highest number of goals they scored in a season, also in 1960-61. In the same season they won 30 matches, and went 18 games unbeaten.

129: The number of goals scored by Craig Madden, the club's record league goalscorer, with 35 in one season in Division Four, between 1981-2.

508: Norman Bullock's league appearances as part of club record of 539 in all competitions.

132: Years they have entered the FA Cup, first entering in 1887.

Fourth: Bury's highest ever finish comes in 1925 in the First Division.

Three: The number of times they have been relegated - in 1929, 1957, and 1971.

Four: The number of times they have been promoted - in 1894, back to back in 1995-6 and then 1996-7, and in 2018.
