Suspect arrested after man seriously injured in 'stabbing' at Berlin Holocaust memorial

A man who appeared to be in his late 20s gave himself up to police a few hours after the attack.

A suspect has been arrested after a man was seriously injured in an attack at the Berlin Holocaust memorial.

Police said he was attacked at about 6pm local time - with local media reporting it was a stabbing.

A person was arrested near the scene and their identity is being checked, police said on X. The motive so far is unclear.

A man claiming to be the culprit surrendered to police nearby about three hours after the attack.

Police spokesperson Florian Nath said the victim was being prepared for surgery but his life was not in danger.

The memorial, close to the Brandenburg Gate, has been cordoned off while searches take place.
