Three men have been arrested for suspected arson and criminal damage after two police cars were set alight outside a South Yorkshire police station.
South Yorkshire Police (SYP) said in a statement two of the force's marked vehicles were deliberately torched and "completely destroyed" outside the station in Goldthorpe, around 20 miles (32km) north of Sheffield.
No one was injured in the incident, which happened in the early hours of Monday morning, the force said, but the station building was damaged.
Pictures issued by force showed the charred remains of two cars, which appeared to be estate vehicles.
The force could not confirm the makes and models or the cost of replacing them.
Some of one side of the station building was blackened after suffering fire damage.
A spokeswoman said: "At around 2.10am, it was reported that the two cars were on fire at Goldthorpe police station.
"Damage has also been caused to the side of the building and a council van. No-one was injured in the incident."
She said three men from Barnsley aged 35, 33 and 18, were arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of causing criminal damage and arson.
They remain in custody.
In a Facebook post, Chief Inspector Mark James, from Barnsley, said: "This reckless incident has left two operational police cars extensively damaged and behaviour like this will not be tolerated."
