Treforest explosion: Woman who died after fire at industrial estate named

In a statement, the family of Danielle Evans paid tribute to her and described her as "a whirlwind of a woman".

A woman who died after an explosion at an industrial estate in Wales has been named as 40-year-old Danielle Evans.

A fire broke out in Treforest in south Wales on Wednesday evening.

A body was recovered afterwards as police and the fire service investigated its cause.

In a statement issued through South Wales Police, Ms Evans' family paid tribute to her: "Dan was a whirlwind of a woman.

"She leaves a gaping hole in her family and friends' hearts, which will never be replaced.

"She was an intelligent, caring and beautiful soul."

Ms Evans, who was married, started her own laboratory business, the statement said.

"She was a fiercely loyal and loving wife. The best friend anyone could hope for," the statement said, adding that Ms Evans loved to spend time with friends and family.

"She came from a loving family and was so close to her mum, dad, brother, aunties and uncles, her love was boundless.

"She touched so many lives. She will be so sorely missed but my word, do we all have some amazing memories that we made and cherish."

Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion and fire at the estate.
