Video of moped rider shooting two men in London released in hunt for suspect

The video shows one victim hiding behind a parked car while the other flees after the suspect stopped and fired a number of shots at them.

Police have released shocking footage of a shooting in northwest London last month as they continue to hunt for the suspect who carried out the attack from a moped.

A 21-year-old man was left with life-changing injuries after being hit in the hip, back and hand.on Cairnfield Avenue in Harlesden on 24 August.

The victim had been speaking to a friend in the street when the suspect approached on a moped at around 12.35am.

The video shows the rider stopping the bike before turning off its lights.

The two men acknowledge the moped but do not appear concerned.

However, the suspect then pulls out a firearm and starts firing shots at the pair.

The victim who was injured dives behind a car to take cover, while his friend, who was not injured, manages to run away.

The rider fires a number of shots before driving away in the direction of Neasden Lane.

Police found a number of bullet casings at the scene but have not been able to identify the suspect who was wearing a dark helmet and dark clothing.

Detective Constable Oliver Kotis, of specialist crime, said: "I would urge anyone who lives in the area to check doorbell and dashcam footage to see if they might have captured this person in the area.

"But for sheer luck we could have had two people shot dead in the street; this could have been a double murder investigation.

"The suspect is a dangerous offender who has access to a firearm and we have seen that they are prepared to use it.

"It is vital that we catch them."
