Cyclone Gabrielle: New Zealand declares national state of emergency after major damages
The North Island takes the brunt of the cyclone and the military is on the ground helping evacuate people from cut-off communities. Prime Minister Chris Hipkins says homes are without power and families have been displaced after "extensive damage" across the country.
