Michael Mosley latest updates: Wife releases statement after body found on Greek island

A body has been found in the search for TV doctor Michael Mosley, who went missing on the Greek island of Symi, according to local authorities. The body was found by a local camera crew in a rocky area just metres from a beach and local bar.

Celebrities, TV stations and his wife have paid tribute to the "national treasure".

Michael Mosley's body removed from Symi

Michael Mosley's body was spotted by a camera crew, four days after he went missing on the Greek island of Symi. 

Emergency services have taken his body to the island of Rhodes where a post-mortem will be performed. 

He was last seen on Wednesday, when he set out for a walk on his own from Saint Nikolas Beach to the centre of the island.

He was later caught on CCTV at 2pm in the fishing village of Pedi, around 1.2km away.

Rescuers had shifted their focus to a snake-infested mountainous area, but a police spokesman said the body was found on a rocky coast.

This Morning presenter sends condolences to Mosley's family

This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford has posted her tribute to Dr Mosley on Instagram. 

She said his death was "terribly sad", calling him a "brilliant and utterly charming man". 

"My condolences and love to his family," the Loose Women star added. 

Mosley's agency say goodbye to 'dear friend'

The Soho Agency, which represented Michael Mosley, has said goodbye to a "dear friend" and "lovely man". 

In a statement, the agency's director Sophie Laurimore said he was "unique" and will be missed "dreadfully". 

"It is with such profound sadness that we say farewell to our dear friend and client, the wise, wonderful and lovely man, Michael Mosley," she said.

"Michael loved what he did and found it a pleasure and a great privilege to work with his colleagues in TV, radio, publishing and at his business, The Fast 800.

"He was immensely grateful for how receptive the public were to the ideas he had the privilege to share and to the many scientists whose work he had the honour to help popularise." 

Peter Andre calls Mosley a 'wonderful human being'

Peter Andre has described Michael Mosley's death as "absolutely devastating" on Instagram. 

The singer posted a photo of the TV doctor on his Instagram story, along with the words: "A wonderful human being".

Channel 4 releases tribute to 'passionate' star

Channel 4 has paid tribute to Michael Mosley, saying all its staff are "deeply saddened" by his death. 

It described the 67-year-old as "passionate" and said it was proud of the "inspiring and engaging" shows he created. 

While Dr Mosley was known for his work with the BBC, he also featured in several Channel 4 shows.  

Mosley had 'an adult mind and a child's curiosity'

Broadcaster Jeremy Vine has called Michael Mosley an "amazing man" who was a "born communicator". 

He said the TV doctor had an "adult mind" and a "child's curiosity". 

"We're all going to miss him so much," he added. 

'He had so much more to give'

Kirstie Allsopp says Michael Mosley was a man who had "so much more to give" following his death. 

The TV presenter, known for shows like Location, Location, Location, said Dr Mosley was a "wise and kind man" who helped people to be "healthier and happier". 

"I hope his family can find some small solace in how highly he was regarded," she added.
